Hey Guys~
Are you still struggling in preparing
for the IELTS Exam now?!
Here are some tips on the four different Modules
Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Let’s have a look together!
Listening Tips
1. When doing Listening Practices Tests,
you have to catch the main ideas.
It will help you to determine what the key words are
and focus on the important section.
And also, stress and intonation are helpful too.
The answer is usually pronounced louder and clearer,
it is easier to hear and understand.
2.You have to ‘answer as you listen’.
3.The constant flow of information often makes easy
to forget after you have heard them.
Practice the listening test that has a transcript.
First try just listening, to get used to the accent.
Then start working with a recording and a transcript.
Use the transcript to make sure you understand every word.
Reading Tips
1.Reading requires a great deal of vocabulary.
Vocabulary is important, but you don’t need to know every word.
You should only know keywords,
the words that can help you to answer the questions.
2.Pay attention to the grammar structure.
Most of you may have limited vocabulary,
but if you can understand various types of grammar structures,
you would be able to work out the main idea
and guess the meaning based on context.
3.Practice reading various articles is helpful.
You will see your reading skill improve in just a short period of time.
Writing Tips
1. It is better to write in regular,
not very sophisticated English,
than to use vocabulary,
phrases or structure you don’t fully understand.
2.Each body paragraph has to include:
the topic sentence, supporting sentences (2~3 sentences),
development sentence (evidence – example, experience, data).
3.It is best to avoid words like “I”, “you”, “we”,
unless you are expressing an opinion.
For example in an essay instead of writing
“You would find it difficult to get a job
without proper qualifications”,
write something like
“One would find it difficult to find a job without proper qualifications”,
or you should write in passive voice“Finding a job without
proper qualifications would be rather difficult”.
Speaking Tips
1. The questions in the first interview section are predictable.
You should always practice them and be prepared.
2.The second part of the speaking test is the Cue Card talk.
Your main task here is to describe things.
It is important that you say something
about every question that is on the card.
You will have to talk about this topic for 1~2 minutes.
Study the suggestions for useful phrases in this part
to help you organize your speech.
Even if you feel that you do not have very much to say about a topic,
try to keep talking.
3.The topic of discussion in part 3 will be related
to the topic of the second part (Cue Card),
but the difference is that here you need to express an opinion
and give at least 2~ 3 reasons to support your opinion.
Go through the list of recent exams
and familiarise yourself with the latest questions.
Take time to practice them.
I am sure your IELTS mark will improved.
Good luck on your exam!!
